Well, it certainly has been cold out lately. So cold in fact, I just haven’t felt any type of need to go outside, other than to run into my car as fast as I can and get to where I need to be. It’s also that time of year, where everyone is sick, and you try to avoid each other like the plague.

While you’re inside keeping away from everyone, why not play a game called “Plague Inc.?”

This aptly named game is a terrifyingly realistic simulation game that sees you creating diseases and trying to infect the world. Sounds kind of crazy, right?  You must mutate diseases and destroy the world. Why would you want to? I have no clue, but it’s very interesting to see how a pathogen can wreak havoc on the world just because your fingertips told it to.

As stated, your goal is to infect as many people as possible, and with each disease having its own outbreak strategy, you need to plan how to release it carefully. The game is so realistic; apparently the creators were invited to the CDC for coffee and a nice sit-down chat. Humanity within the game of course will try to adapt to your pathogens via vaccines and quarantines, so it is your job to maximize your efforts.

At the end of the day, the game really informs you on serious health topics that many of us gloss over in our daily lives … but it sure is fun. Remember, only the strongest will survive.

“Plague Inc.” is free to download on the Android and IOS stores.
