Weekly Time Waster - ‘Ocean Is Home: Survival Island’

We’ve all seen the Tom Hanks movie “Cast Away” at this point. Man survives a plane crash and wakes up on a desolate island. He has to survive whilst going crazy from being alone. None of us could ever imagine being in such a situation … but we could certainly play a video game about it!

“Ocean Is Home” puts you in the shoes of a man trying to survive on an island in the middle of the ocean. You have to look for food, build shelter and collect items to craft useful tools to survive. That is the pure goal: survival.

It’s fair to mention that it’s a deserted island too, where clearly people once lived. With buildings and roads on the island, there is a mystery to uncover that I won’t spoil. “Ocean Is Home” gives you the freedom to survive how you want. You get to “own” the island. You also have it easier than Tom Hanks; there is a vehicle on the island that helps you get around searching for supplies and land marks. Hunger and thirst are your first enemies in the game. Hunting for food is quite a challenge as you must craft a bow to hunt with. If you find the necessary items, you can even build a farm.

With a huge island to explore and some secrets to be found, “Ocean is Home” is a fun little time waster to cast away. “Ocean is Home” is free to download on the Android and IOS stores!
