Weekly Time Waster - ‘Frontline Commando: D-Day’

It sure was a nice weekend. There was both lots of sun and warmth outside and lots of entertainment on television at night. Over the weekend, I found myself re-watching some of the “Band of Brothers” series. Afterwards, I felt the inclination to find a game that would let me be a WWII armchair general, or at least a war hero. In my search, I stumbled upon “Frontline Commando: D-Day.”

“Frontline Commando: D-Day” puts you in the boots of a World War II soldier, stepping off a Higgins Boat during the invasion of Normandy beach, leading the charge. You must move from cover to cover, and eliminate soldiers to advance. With stunning graphics and sound, it almost makes you feel like you are really there. The environment is even destructible to a degree, adding to the realism.

With a very long single player campaign, you can really get lost in this game. There are five total campaigns, with over 145 missions combined, including all the different beach landings of Juno, Sword, Utah, Gold and Omaha. One cool game mode that has recently been added as well is a “Defend the Base” mode, where you must hold down a bunker against waves of different enemies, seeing how long you can survive.

“Frontline Commando: D-Day” lets you experience a taste of WWII in the palm of your hand, playing out like a full-fledged movie. It certainly deserves a spot on your phone. “Frontline” is available to download on both the Android and IOS stores.
