Time Waster - Indefinite: Interrogation Game'

Written by Katy England

Something has happened, and the shadowy government has taken you in for an interrogation. You are bombarded with questions and have only seconds to answer them. Who are you? How old are you? Who are you closest with? How old is your sister? How many people did you kill during the incident?

If you take too long to answer, or if you contradict yourself as your interrogators repeat questions, you are found guilty. Then you can read the report on you and see how badly you've implicated yourself or your loved ones.

Time Waster - No One Has To Die'

Written by Katy England

'No One Has To Die' is a combination strategy puzzle and story that is just on the cusp of being truly amazing. You are put in the shoes of a 'visitor' who has the power to help four workers at a shadowy business escape a deadly fire. While you are doing this, you have to make dire choices about who lives or dies. The fire is the obvious threat, but so is the water. If it is left on too long, it will drown victims. If too many people die, the level resets, and you have the option to replay the level.

Once the fire is contained and the water turned off, you will advance. You follow the storyline of the survivors and slowly the truth about the company and the reason why the fire was set are revealed. But you will need to play through the levels multiple times, choosing different survivors, to learn the bizarre truth.

Time Waster - Arrow Hero'

Written by Katy England

A game doesn't have to be complicated or have fancy graphics to be addicting and fun. 'Arrow Hero' takes a page from 'Guitar Hero,' but instead of a fancy fake guitar and rocking music, it's just you and your arrow keys. You have to hit the corresponding arrow, and the more you mess up the faster you lose. They are color coded to make gameplay that much easier, but trust me when I say that it won't save you. Best streak means best score. It's easy to learn, but surprisingly challenging. But it is really fun when you get a good streak going.

Play it for free at It is also available on mobile.

Time Waster - Sugar, Sugar 3'

Written by Katy England

This is one of the most challenging and fun physics games out there right now. The premise is the same as it was in previous games: Sugar pours from the comma separating 'Sugar, Sugar.' You have to direct the flow of sweet grains into the correct cups of coffee. White mugs take white sugar, and various other colored mugs will take the corresponding grains. There are some mugs that will cause you to lose a level if the wrong color grain enters. You control the flow of the grains by drawing lines that can change where the sugar falls. There are teleporters, sugar dyes and reverse gravity buttons. There's a lot of ways to get the sugar to your cup but can you?

Sometimes the flow of sugar seems endless, and other times you may only get a few scant grains that need to find their way into three or four or dozens of different cups.

Time Waster - Death Worm'

Written by Katy England

Sometimes it can be hard to find a good time waster. My criteria isn't extreme, but includes finding something that is fun to play, easy to learn and still waste a good chunk of time. Too boring and no one will want to stick with it; too hard to learn and it's not a productive waste of your time. Well, 'Death Worm' is one of those gems that is just easy, fun and delightfully weird.

You play as the titular Death Worm, living under the sands of Egypt. Your goal is to eat things: birds, camels, people, cars you get the idea. The more you eat, the more you can level up and then the more you can eat. It's a beautiful pattern.

Time Waster - Cube Escape: Seasons'

Written by Katy England

This is a chilling puzzle/escape game. For those not familiar, an escape game is one where you look for clues to escape your surroundings. 'Cube Escape: Seasons' takes a more cerebral approach. You are in a single room at different points in time, uncovering what happened to the woman who lived in the room and finding out if you are responsible for her grisly demise and to see if there is anything you can do to change the course of events.

This game is both surreal and at times almost unbearably creepy. The mood is perfectly set, and gets increasingly more disturbing as you progress through the four levels. If you don't find your skin crawling at certain parts, well, you're a better player than I am.

Time Waster - GemCraft 3: Chasing Shadows'

Written by Katy England

If you have any pressing commitments, homework that is due or anything that resembles a social life, leave now. Once you start playing 'GemCraft 3,' you will not be doing any of those things. This game and its predecessors are the tower defense games (TDG) that all other TDGs aspire to be.

This game is massive and well-structured. The first few maps serve as a tutorial and even if you're a veteran player, they will help you get the hang of some of the new features.

Time Waster - Star Light 2'

Written by Katy England

Often, the little games we play on our phones or web browsers are designed to stress us out there is tension that comes with winning that can sometimes render a game less than fun. But then there are games like 'Star Light 2' that have some challenge to them, but are designed to entertain you in a relaxing way.

This puzzle game is straightforward you have to find images in the stars. You start with a crazy jumble of lines, and use your mouse or touchpad to rotate the image until it makes a recognizable picture. It can seem confusing at first, as the rays go in every direction, but once you get the hang of it you'll be whipping though images quickly.

Time Waster - Clicker Heroes'

Written by Katy England

Clickers are becoming huge and much more advanced. Things have changed from the days of 'Cookie Clicker,' but not as much as you might think. For those who are not familiar, 'clickers' are a form of idle gameplay, which means the game keeps playing itself for you while you do things like write stories, watch your children or even shut down your computer. It's basically math made fun.

'Clicker Heroes' has slick graphics, cute bad guys (if you can call them that, since they're really nice about letting you kill them) and ample rewards for mowing them down. You purchase other heroes who wish to help and level them up to increase your idle damage per second. You can also unlock special powers that allow clicks to be made for you, get more gold, earn gold while you click and more. They all have cool-down periods that vary with the strength of the power itself, but are rarely more than an hour. Earn coins, level up and move on to the next level where the enemies are a little harder and take longer to kill.

Time Waster - Royal Squad'

Written by Katy England

The tower defense game has a soft spot in my heart. There is something thrilling about having to plan out much of your defense in advance of an oncoming hoard or five, and 'Royal Squad' delivers a wonderful twist in this game.

You are a troupe of soldiers deep in enemy territory with a handful of archers and an eccentric mage. You are tasked with keeping the evil skeletons, zombies, mages and priests at bay while the main army tries to reunite with the ship. The story involves a spell is on the archers to keep them out of sight from the bad guys (a thin premise, sure, but do you really need a thicker one?).
