Challenger Learning Center disposes of electronic waste for donations

BANGOR You can get rid of your hard to dispose of electronic waste by bringing it to the Challenger Learning Center on May 4 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. 

The staff at Challenger will responsibly dispose of your electronic waste in exchange for donations. The suggested donations are $10 for the first piece and $5 for each subsequent piece, but no donation is too large or too small.

The event is open to residents from any community. Challenger has partnered with eWaste Recycling Solutions LLC (ERS) of Auburn, which has been approved by the Department of Environmental Protection.

Acceptable items are televisions of all sizes, microwaves, medical electronics, CPUs, Monitors, copiers, printers, digital picture frames, fax machines, scanners, laptops, keyboards/mouse/peripherals, stereos, DVD players, cell phones, remote controls, VCRs, projectors, digital cameras, tape players, PDAs, speakers, telephones, two-way radios, answering machines, camcorders, CD players, electric typewriters, game systems and pagers.

Items that are not accepted are smoke detectors, batteries or florescent lights.
