Three Pint Stance - Beer for your New Year!

As we rapidly approach the New Year, we’ll soon be in need for celebratory beverages for when the ball drops and we sing “Auld Lang Syne” and wear silly hats and all that amateur hour bullcrap. The go-to for most people is champagne, of course, but is that what you REALLY want?

I say no!

Welcome back to the Three Pint Stance Guide to Holiday Beer Gifting! Last week, we went over what not to get your beer-loving friend/lover/co-worker/annoying person you have to get a gift for. This week, we get to focus on the things you SHOULD consider getting that person.

On to the list!

Welcome to the Three Pint Stance Guide to Holiday Beer Gifting! In this two-part series, I’ll be going over the dos and don’ts of holiday gift giving for the beer lover in your life. It can be difficult to navigate the waters of the craft beer hobby if you don’t know much about beer in the first place, but this guide should help you sail those waters successfully and arrive in the safe harbor of Perfect Gift…land.

Anyway, let’s begin with things you SHOULDN’T give the beer lover in your life. Some of these may seem like good ideas (and some of them I may have even mentioned in the past), but we learn as we get older, right?

Three Pint Stance – The importance of reruns

If you are a reader with a decent memory and a keen eye, you may have noticed that from time to time that the Three Pint Stance is much like today’s modern aluminum cans - easily and often recycled. So sue me, I am a busy person who stays busy by constantly making sure to tell people how busy he is. It can be exhausting, but somehow I manage.

Three Pint Stance – A powerless brewery

*blows out candle*

There. We don’t need that anymore. After about five days in the dark, the trees are off the lines and the power is back on at Gneiss Brewing Company. The rogue storm that took out power to more than 300,000 households and businesses across Maine on October 30 affected quite a few breweries as well.

Three Pint Stance - Beers to FALL in love with

Although it has been a month since the Autumnal Equinox, it feels as though we are just settling into fall here in Maine. With the cooler temps and the prettying of the trees, we also see a shift in selections when it comes to beer. Here are a few autumn offerings that I am digging this year.

Some may say this is the most wonderful time of the year … and they would be correct. The time has come once again to celebrate that most wonderful of fermented beverage, the elixir that makes us merry and gives men like myself the confidence to dance in public. Yes, we salute you, beer. I’ll spare the Homer Simpson quote and simply move on to my next point.

Three Pint Stance – Gneiss turns 4!

Three Pint Stance presents: An Interview with Gneiss Brewing Company Co-Founder, Tim Bissell.

This week on the Three Pint Stance, we were lucky enough to sit down with Tim Bissell, Co-Founder and Director of Marketing and Sales at Gneiss Brewing Company in Limerick who agreed to chat with 3PS’s own Tim Bissell about their upcoming 4th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday Oct. 7 from noon - 6 p.m.

(Editor’s note: You’re killing me, Bissell. Ah, whatever. You’re just going to do what you want anyway. Happy anniversary, Gneiss.)

OK, so I’m going to level with you all. Recently, I got married to my amazing wife and that is really cool. We also went on a nine-day honeymoon to San Francisco, Sonoma County and Yosemite National Park.

The best way to drink beer is to go right to the source. Visiting a brewery is a great way to get to know more about your beer, have a fresh pint and bring some home to enjoy later. While a lot of breweries offer standard bottles and cans at their tasting rooms, you might find yourself putting down a deposit for a big jug called a growler.
