Still fast, still furious – ‘The Fate of the Furious’
Beyond the sea - 'Moana'
Central Intelligence' smarter than you think
Dynamic Kevin Hart/The Rock pairing offers comedic chemistry
It's relatively easy to make a passable action comedy. Just string together a handful of jokes with some decently-crafted action sequences into something vaguely resembling a plot, then toss a few recognizable faces into the mix. Boom a serviceable and (probably) not-terrible action comedy.
The Rock in a hard place Hercules'
Film offers different take on ancient Greek hero
So it would seem that we all have to come to terms with the fact that the Rock is a movie star.
Even faster and furiouser
Fast and Furious' offers surprisingly good sixth installment
You can usually tell when an open-ended franchise is hitting the end of its run. The films decline gradually, then steeply. Before long, they disappear into the pop culture memory.
But then you have the 'Fast and Furious' franchise, which might be at its popularity apex with the sixth installment in the series.
Pain & Gain' will pump you up
Real-life tale shows truth is stranger than fiction
Michael Bay and 'based on a true story' doesn't really seem to make a lot of sense, does it? This is a guy who somehow managed to make giant transforming alien robots even more infantile and ridiculous in practice than in theory is he really the guy to bring truth to the screen?
Nine hundred ninety-nine times out of a thousand, the answer would be a resounding 'no.' However, he has somehow managed to find the one story where the answer is a giddy, glorious 'yes.'
WrestleMania 29 paves the way for WWE's future
Young superstars shine at the grandest stage of them all
WWE's biggest event of the year took place this past Sunday, and the show was definitely a large improvement compared to the last few. While many of the matches might have been predictable in people's eyes, they all delivered in one way or another. Every superstar fighting on the WrestleMania card deserved to be there, and didn't let the opportunity of a lifetime go to waste. This goes especially for the younger superstars that were fighting at the big event for the first time.
Fans, including myself, have been complaining about the fact that WWE hasn't been building up new wrestlers and instead has depended on its part-timers such as the Undertaker and the Rock. Don't get me wrong, all of those wrestlers are great as the Undertaker vs. CM Punk was easily match of the night, and the Rock delivered despite losing the WWE Championship against John Cena. Look at some of the past four or five WrestleMania's and you won't find too many new superstars on the card, whereas this year's featured six. Giving the new guys a chance at WrestleMania is a great way for them to make an immediate impact and get recognition in front of a large audience.
Snitch' not quite Rock-solid
Action thriller first of four 2013 vehicles for wrestler
Like it or not, we're going to have to come to terms with a simple truth: the Rock is a movie star.
See, 'Snitch' is Dwayne Johnson's first film of 2013 the first of four hitting screens in the next six months. You've got the latest incarnation of 'GI Joe' at the end of March, the sixth 'Fast and Furious' offering come Memorial Day and the Michael Bay bodybuilder action movie 'Pain and Gain' early this summer.
