BANGOR The University of Maine Museum of Art is bringing an evening of music and art to Bangor, Saturday, Aug. 17, 6 to 9 p.m. It is an occasion to celebrate art and more than 10 years of UMMA in downtown. The gala will be held in the sculpture garden of Norumbega Hall beneath a large tent. Guests can mix and mingle and participate in a number of activities, including a social media photo op, a new addition to the gala's itinerary, on the stairwell landing.

Highlights for this year's event range from craft projects to a scavenger hunt. Craft projects include button making as well as polymer bead making. Participants end up with souvenirs to bring home after the gala. The highlight of the craft activities is a large scale Summer Oasis mural that each guest is invited to contribute to.
