It’s hard to believe, considering the current state of things, but the 2020 NFL season is ready to kick off. In fact, by the time you read this, the first game – the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans on Sept. 10 – may have already taken place.

There’s no way of knowing how this season is going to play out. With the shadow of the coronavirus likely to loom large over the entire year, making predictions about outcomes is even more of a fool’s errand than usual.

Lucky for you, I am that fool.

I will make my usual predictions with regard to how I believe the season will play out. And as usual, I anticipate being wildly off-base with a significant percentage of these predictions. I have a long and storied history of middling picks, after all – why expect anything different this time around?

And so, here you have it – my monkey-dart-throwing attempt at prognostication. Ladies and gentlemen, your sure-to-be-inaccurate 2020 Maine Edge NFL Season Preview.

The coming of the new year tends to inspire feelings of reflection, of looking back on the year that has passed. And so, as someone who spent part of that year telling you what was going to happen in the world of sports, I feel it my duty to share with you how it ultimately went.

As per usual, the results are … let’s just call them mixed.

You’re more than welcome to judge my ability (or lack thereof) however you see fit. I’m perfectly aware of the dart-monkey levels of accuracy I usually manage; you won’t be telling me anything I don’t already know.

Going Bowling 2017

It's that time of year again - that time when I use every bit of knowledge I have accumulated in another season of college football semi-fandom in a Quixotic attempt to predict the winners of every bowl game.

I've had some success in the past, but make no mistake - I have no idea what I'm doing.

It's a chance to see some college football teams that you know nothing about. You never know if you might stumble upon a game where something unprecedented takes place – in fact, I (along with my good friend Jason Preble) have a long history of stumbling onto the wildest, most unexpectedly entertaining bowl matchups of each season. I expect more of the same this year.

And with that - let's go bowling.

Once again, spring has sprung. Regardless of what the weather outside brings, there's no escaping the fact that we're just days away from the beginnings of another baseball season. Spring training is almost at an end. The crack of the bat and the smack of the mitt will soon surround us.

Kibbles and Picks 2016 Week 3

All things considered, it could have been worse.

Things looked good for me going into the last few games last week where I promptly finished with three straight losses. I wound up going 8-8 overall; not bad for a week featuring so many surprises.
