BANGOR- The Next Step Maine Scholarship Program has awarded five scholarships to Penobscot County residents. The five students were nominated by their employers for a 2016 Next Step Maine Employee of Promise scholarship because of their outstanding commitment to balancing work and family, and their passion to complete their degree. The recipients are adult learners currently taking college courses to complete their degrees. In total, Maine residents received Next Step Maine scholarships totaling $35,600.

Bangor FCU awards $11k in scholarships

BANGOR Each year, Bangor Federal Credit Union awards $1,000 each to graduating high school students of the following schools: Bangor Christian Schools, Bangor High School, Belfast High School, Brewer High School, Bucksport High School, Ellsworth High School, Hampden Academy, Hermon High School, John Bapst High School, Old Town High School, and Orono High School.

Scholarship applications available

BANGOR The Maine Children's Scholarship Fund is accepting applications now through April 30, 2016 for tuition assistance for the 2016-2017 school year. The MCSF provides tuition scholarships for Maine students in kindergarten through grade 12 for public school, private school or home schooling expenses for families that fall within the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch income guidelines. The organization provides up to $1,400 per child, per year for eligible families.
