MartialYou teams up with area martial artists to create an affordable experience for kids

BANGOR The Bangor Y is working in collaboration with MartialYou, Youngs MMA and Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to offer youth ages 7 to 18 a chance to experience a wide array of martial arts, including Taekwondo fundamentals, boxing basics, jiu jitsu for beginners, introduction to yoga and a leadership workshop. The class is being offered Aug. 19 through 23. The five-day camp is only $50 for members of the Y and $80 for non-members for the entire week. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the day is broken up into different classes, ranging between 30 to 45 minutes with plenty of breaks in between.

Shawn Hill founder of MartialYou said the collaboration was a natural fit. Hill had worked with Young's MMA and Gracie Barra (Chris Young and Eduardo Benjamin) and was impressed with not only their level of skill, but their positive attitude that made it an easy decision to work with them.
