The Nite Show' to tape two shows at Husson

Taping will take place on Nov. 28 at Husson University Student Center

BANGOR 'The Nite Show with Danny Cashman' will take its show on the road at the end of this month to Husson University in Bangor. The Maine-based late night talk show will tape two shows at the campus's student center, marking only the second time the show has gone on the road.

Award-winning cellist to perform with pianist Yannick Rafalimanana

BANGOR The Gracie Theatre's Classical Series announces their first concert Sept. 30 with a performance by talented cellist Sebastian Baverstam. Accompanied by pianist Yannick Rafalimanana, the program features Beethoven's Sonata No. 2 in G minor for Cello and Piano, Op. 5, No. 2 plus additional sonatas by Kodaly and Franck. The concert will be held at Husson University's Gracie theatre at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 30. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students and are available on the Gracie theatre website or by calling the box office at 941-7888.

The Gracie goes for the gusto

A wide variety of offerings populate theater's debut season

BANGOR The Gracie Theatre has announced the lineup for its inaugural 2012-2013 season.

The theatre, located on the campus of Husson University in Bangor, will be bringing four different touring performances to the Gracie stage this season. In addition, the Gracie will be offering a classical music series as well as a number of other events both live and filmed.

Husson University presents 'The Dhamma Brothers'

A look at meditation, the U.S. prison system and education

BANGOR - Husson University's School of Science and Humanities is proud to present The Dhamma Brothers, a dramatic documentary about teaching meditation in the Donaldson Correctional Facility, a high security prison in Alabama. The movie will be presented on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Gracie Theatre. A short presentation will precede the screening. The event is free and open to the public.

Program helps student, alumni manage student loans, financial decisions

BANGOR Husson University, in coordination with the Finance Authority of Maine, has partnered with SALTSM, an educational program designed to incent sound financial management in college students and recent alumni. Husson is the first institution in Maine to implement the program.

Husson University has partnered with SALT in an effort to educate, empower and engage college students and young adults to manage their finances by making it immediately rewarding, easy and enjoyable to make smarter student loan and financial decisions. The program uses a variety of channels to engage student and alumni members and positively influence behavior. Members receive proactive communication about student loan repayment options, one-on-one repayment counseling with student loan experts, a personalized online dashboard to track all their federal and private student loans in one place and compare payment options, and more.

Line up to include popular acts in music, improv, comedy

BANGOR - The Gracie Theatre at Husson University is proud to announce its inaugural season for the 2012/13 academic year. Together with founding season sponsor Bangor Savings Bank, the Gracie will present four touring productions, including Chicago's Second City improv group, Tony-winner Jennifer Holliday, the popular Potted Potter show and the hilarious 'Deer Camp, the Musical.'

Husson University launches new website

BANGOR Husson University recently launched a new version of its website at http://www.husson.edu. The comprehensive update features improved navigation, added features and a dynamic new design.

The new site enhances user experience through several new and improved features, including a virtual tour of the campus, YouTube videos about various areas of the University, upcoming events and important dates and a module that allows users to request specific information about a particular degree program and/or sport program.

BANGOR - The New England School of Communications, located on the campus of Husson University in Bangor, has been producing some of the most talented employees in the communication business for 30 years now. Aron Gaudet, a 1996 graduate and creator of the Maine troop greeters documentary 'The Way We Get By,' and Bret Johnson, a 2005 graduate and recent Academy Award winner for his contributions to the Martin Scorsese film 'Hugo,' are just two of the school's amazing stand-outs. These talented individuals, along with countless other students, got to where they are today thanks to the vision of one New York native with years of experience that he wanted to share with others.

Music saves kids with cancer at EMMC

How one student organization is making a difference

BANGOR - Rock out at Curva Ultra Lounge Friday, April 06, 2012. The Husson/NESCom chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is hosting the second annual Music Saved Me Benefit Show - featuring five Maine-based bands, including Paranoid Social Club, When Particles Collide, Mines of Paris, One Shot Nothing and The Transducers. Z 107.3's Paul Wolfe hosts the show.

'It's going to be a blast,' said Conor Sweeney, who is involved in publicity for the event. He's hoping to reach out beyond the Husson Campus and have the public from the greater Bangor area attend to help raise money. 'The goal was to mainstream it and make sure the community knows about it.'

Proceeds raised from Music Saved Me will benefit pediatric oncology at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Leukemia survivor Erin Falwell is helping organize Music Saved Me for its second year, as it has become an annual event for PRSSA. Music Saved Me will help EMMC's patients through arts and entertainment.
