Best thing since sliced bread

There is an elegant simplicity in sandwiches. A sandwich can be a slice of cheese between pieces of bread, or it can be an extraordinary combination of flavors that make you swoon and it can be both at the same time. Sandwiches are comfort food. Soul food. Lunch food.

Sandwiches have been around in some form since Biblical times. Bitter herbs were placed between two pieces of unleavened bread at Passover by Hillel the Elder. More recently, there's the anecdote about the Earl of Sandwich, who asked for his meat to be served between two slices of bread so he could eat and continue to play cards. After that, everyone was asking for 'the same as Sandwich.'

Pizza made possible by Kickstarter

When the Maine Grind in Ellsworth decided they wanted to add pizza to their menu, they turned to their customers for help raising the money they needed to make it happen. Using a site called Kickstarter, they launched a campaign to raise $20,000 - and they were successful! Kickstarter is a 'crowd funding' site, meaning individuals pledge money to projects they want to support. Kickstarter started to help fund creative projects - musicians, artists, etc. But more businesses are finding the site a great way to fund their creative projects. There are other crowd funding sites out there, but Kickstarter is among the most popular (do be sure any site you choose is legit!).

After an operation, she's joined by wayward offspring Nick (Rory Kinnear) and Libby (Helen McCrory), sharp-eyed granddaughter Summer, local doctor Peter and Daniel, a troubled teenager who makes use of the family's crumbling swimming pool. Together they share a few sweltering months in this chaotic world of all-day drinking, infatuations, long-held resentments, free love and failure.
