A big win, but was it?

The case against Bill Cosby heated up last week when the now-disgraced actor and comedian appeared in court as part of a string of pretrial appearances related to his alleged sexual assault against a former Temple University employee.

How Donald Trump took on the NFL

WASHINGTON More than 30 years ago, Donald Trump bought a franchise in the upstart United States Football League. He then led his fellow owners to sue the NFL in a high-stakes antitrust case.

The head-on challenge and his ownership of the New Jersey Generals was an early testing ground for the swashbuckling approach that the celebrity businessman-turned-Republican presidential candidate has brought to his 2016 campaign.

'Donald was the big, crazy-spending owner, and the NFL guys were scared to death of him,' said Bill Tatham Jr., an owner of the USFL's Arizona Outlaws who came to admire Trump's tactics.

A child is born

We wouldn't be doing our duty here at Celebrity Slam if we didn't take a moment to acknowledge the birth of a daughter to proud parents Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Whenever a prominent celebrity power couple adds to their family, it warrants mentioning.

Also warranting mention is the cottage industry that seems to be springing up around the child. It is one thing to have an interest heaven knows we've heard enough about it over the past months but there are some people that have a need to make things 'interesting.'

Monkey business

While many of the famous folks we visit here at Celebrity Slam are known for their naked thirst for the spotlight, there are always those who take their need to be looked at to a new level. These are people who find new ways to ensure that all eyes are upon them - new and very stupid ways.

The latest installment in idiocy comes from mogul/reality TV star Donald Trump, who has chosen to pick a ridiculous fight with late night talker Bill Maher.

The beef springs from an alleged comment Maher made on 'The Tonight Show' in the immediate aftermath of Trump's $5 million challenge to President Obama regarding the president's birth certificate. When talking to Jay Leno, Maher stated that he himself would donate $5 million to charity if Trump could prove that he isn't the offspring of Trump's mother and an orangutan.

Miss Informed?

Beauty pageants are serious business. While the millions of television watchers out there get a chance to watch the ceremony unfold and see all the glitz and glamor, there's a dark underside to events such as the Miss USA competition. One contestant in this year's pageant Miss Pennsylvania is trying to bring some of those dark machinations into the light.

There's only one problem: she's a lunatic.

Sheena Monnin represented the state of Pennsylvania in the recent Miss USA pageant. She didn't win, but according to her, it wasn't because she failed to measure up. Oh no it was because the entire thing is rigged. Her evidence? She claims that one of her fellow contestants (Miss Florida) saw a list of the five finalists before they were announced. Proof! The fix is in!

Not so fast.
