ORONO – A comedy legend is coming to the Collins Center for the Arts.

Comedian Howie Mandel will be performing at the CCA on the University of Maine campus in Orono on Nov. 1.

ORONO – The Collins Center for the Arts is heading into its 33rd season of exceptional arts programming on the campus of the University of Maine in Orono.

The CCA – formerly known as the Maine Center for the Arts – has been a vital hub for the performing arts in the region ever since the Bangor Symphony Orchestra christened its stage all the way back in 1986. The iconic building has played host to memorable acts large and small over the years, bringing a wonderful variety of arts and entertainment to our area.

The Collins Center has long been a foundational piece of the cultural community, offering high-quality programming year after year after year. This season is no exception, with a wonderful variety of music, theater and dance aimed at audiences of all ages. As per usual, the powers that be at the CCA have managed to ensure that there really is something for everyone.

North Carolina-based Steep Canyon Rangers have established themselves as one of America’s preeminent bluegrass bands and they’ve done it through a combination of shared vision, a love for the form and a persistent drive to evolve.

The Grammy-winning sextet, known for their ability to tailor a show for any type of venue, says they’re ready to present their “performing arts” face when they grace the stage of Orono’s Collins Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, April 21.

Acoustic evenings with Lyle Lovett & Shawn Colvin

ORONO/BROWNFIELD - Longtime friends Lyle Lovett and Shawn Colvin are about to hit the road together for the first time in March for an acoustic tour of songs and stories which will include shows at the Collins Center for the Arts in Orono and the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield.

The duo will perform songs from each of their careers while swapping stories about their music and lives.

Lovett and Colvin’s first Maine stop on this tour is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6, at Orono’s Collins Center for the Arts at the University of Maine at 7 p.m. The next night, the pair will offer up their acoustic evening of songs and stories at Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield.

ORONO – Music from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away is coming to the Collins Center for the Arts stage.

The Bangor Symphony Orchestra is presenting “The Music of Star Wars” for two performances at the CCA, located on the University of Maine campus. The shows are taking place on March 4 at 7:30 p.m. and March 5 at 3 p.m.
