HALLOWELL - The Harlow Gallery in partnership with the Family Violence Project of Augusta announce a call for Maine artists to create art for an exhibition to take place at the Harlow Gallery in October entitled 'It Takes a Community: Transforming Violence II.' Submission deadline is Aug. 15 at 11 p.m.

Ten years ago, the Harlow Gallery and the Family Violence Project partnered to present 'Transforming Violence,' a collaborative, multi-voiced, educational art exhibition and workshop series responding to the problem of domestic violence in our communities. Transforming Violence took place in October of 2005 and was an important, empowering and transformative experience for those who participated. While there has been an increase in community awareness of the issue of violence in the community since then, domestic violence is still taking a terrible toll on Maine families.
