Stesha Cano releases 'Simple as Everything'

BREWER - Maine singer-songwriter Stesha Cano releases her sophomore album 'Simple As Everything' with a two-night CD release concert and celebration at Next Generation Theatre, 39 Center St. in Brewer, on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19. Doors open each night at 6 p.m. for a catered VIP reception with Stesha and event sponsors, followed at 7 p.m. by a double-set of Cano's all-original music, featuring a genre-bending array of styles and some of Maine's best musicians. Tickets are $20/person or $30/pair, including reception and signed CD. Advance purchase is highly recommended, so stop by or call NGT at (207) 989-7100.

Following the sold-out 2011 release of her debut album 'Like A Bee,' Cano's lyrics and phrasing continue to evolve, while remaining clever, thought-provoking and full of evocative imagery. 'Simple as Everything' melds a more modern approach to Stesha's signature R&B styling with an intriguing return to roots of the old south, early blues and traditional jazz. All instrumentation was recorded live, most simultaneously, for terrifically fresh energy. On several songs, Cano uses 'the magic of MIDI,' adding delicately placed layers of electronic sounds which, she believes, 'add so much ambience it would be hard to capture with anything else.'
'Simple As Everything' boasts life stories in song, with powerful melodies, intricate harmonies, beautiful horn lines, acoustic and electric guitars, moments of Spanish-influenced percussion and strings and Cano's unmistakable vocals.
