Deanna Adler, mother of original Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, says she wouldn’t wish what she’s been through on anyone. Her long-awaited book, titled “Sweet Child Of Mine: How I Lost My Son to Guns N’ Roses” (Monarch Publishing; $22.99), was released last week and offers a brutally frank account of the decades she spent trying to help her son overcome his demons and how she came to the realization that only he could help himself.

BANGOR - In cooperation with the University of Maine Humanities Center’s annual Bangor Humanities Day, the Norumbega Collective is hosting a reading by Peaks Island local Mira Ptacin, who will read from her critically acclaimed memoir ““Poor Your Soul”” (Soho 2016). The reading will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rock & Art Shop in downtown Bangor, and is free and open to the public.
