The Winter Landscape by Barbara Adams

BANGOR The Sohns Gallery, located in The Rock & Art Shop at 36 Central Street, presents The Winter Landscape, pastel and oil works by Barbara Adams. 'My inspiration comes from spending as much time as I can soaking in the landscape of Maine' says artist Barbara Adams, whose works focus on light, color and composition. The works push towards abstraction while retaining a realistic integrity.

BANGOR Penobscot Theatre Company is hosting a theatrical day camp for children ages 4-14 during February School Vacation, Feb. 15-19. Each day, expert and highly energetic teaching artists will lead participants in theme-based dramatic activities. "February Vacation Camp is one of the most action-packed weeks we have here at Penobscot Theatre Company!" said Amy Roeder, the company's director of education. "This year, along with perennial favorites, we're thrilled to offer some new activities, like a stage makeup workshop on Design Day!"

Vacation camp will begin at 9 a.m. with structured activities until 4 p.m. Because each day will be centered on a different theme, students may register for any or all of the following:

United Way hopes to collect more than 15,000 pounds of food throughout the spring

BANGOR Hollywood Casino played host to the kick off for the United Way's 7th annual Pantry Project. The goal for United Way is to collect more than 15,000 pounds of food between now and the end of April, which will provide more than 12,500 meals.

For the sixth consecutive year, Hollywood Casino kicked off the initiative by recruiting local artist Allison Strange to assemble a holiday-themed winter scene made entirely out of canned goods. This year, Strange made 'Babe the Blue Ox' out of cans of tuna and packages of coffee. The roughly 1,400 cans of soup used in the project are being donated by Hollywood Casino to kick off the 2016 Pantry Project.

BANGORThe Paul Bunyan Snocross, a snowmobile competition that premiered last year at Bangor's Bass Park, will return to Bangor on Jan. 30-31, 2016.

Inaugurated and hosted by the Eastern Maine Community College Foundation, in association with East Coast Snocross (ECS) and with support from Dysart's, the weekend competition will feature pro and semi-pro races, as well as trail class races for recreational sledders.

BANGOR American Airlines will start weekend summer service from Bangor International Airport to New York's LaGuardia Airport starting June 4. The service will be operated once daily on Saturdays and Sundays through Sep. 4.

CAMDEN -- The board of directors of Camden National Corporation and Camden National Bank, the Company's wholly-owned subsidiary, are pleased to announce that David J. Ott and Carl J. Soderberg have been elected to serve as members of the board of directors. Ott and Soderberg are joining Camden National and Camden National Bank in conjunction with, and subject to completion of, the merger with SBM Financial, Inc. and its wholly owned-subsidiary, The Bank of Maine. Ott and Soderberg have served as directors of SBM since 2010 and 2011, respectively. In addition to their roles as board members, Ott will serve as a member of the Audit Committee and Director's Loan Review Committee, and Soderberg will serve as a member of the Governance and Risk Committee and Asset and Liability Committee.

BANGOR -- Bangor Region residents and visitors are learning more about the city's history thanks to Eaton Peabody, Attorneys at Law and the Bangor Historical Society. The law firm has signed on as the Presenting Sponsor of the 151 year-old organization's popular summer walking tours.

'One of our primary goals is to share' the history of Bangor and her people,' Melissa Gerety, Bangor Historical Society executive director, said. 'Our walking tours are one of the ways we do thatand we couldn't continue to do it without the support of community partners like Eaton Peabody. We are grateful for their support.'
