BANGOR - City Manager Catherine Conlow has announced that Robert 'Bob' Farrar, Assistant City Manager and Human Resources Director, will retire from city service effectiveSeptember 23, 2016. Prior to relocating to Bangor, he served as Topsham Town Administrator and Assistant to the Brunswick Town Manager for more than 8 years.
American Folk Festival announces first 2016 acts
BANGOR The American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront has released the names of the first several artists scheduled to appear at the three-day event in August. Announced cultures include Western Swing, Bluegrass, Portuguese, Salsa, Prince Edward Island, Sri Lanka dance, and Jazz. All seven performers being announced today will be first-time performers at the American Folk Festival.
GBCVB announces 2016 Tourism Awards
BANGOR - The Greater Bangor Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) and presenting sponsor, Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2016 Tourism and Hospitality Eagle Awards. Peter D'Errico will receive the Lifetime Achievement Eagle Award, Anah Shriners will receive the Organizational Achievement and the Maine Brewers Guild will receive the GBCVB Impact Eagle Award. The awards will be handed out during the 21st Annual Tourism Awards Event & Silent Auction on May 11, 2016 at Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.
Eastern Maine Pagan Pride hosts Bacchanalian Ball 2016
BANGOR On Saturday, Feb. 20, Eastern Maine Pagan Pride Association is hosting a Bacchanalian Ball from 6-10 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor, 120 Park Street, Bangor, ME.
Bacchanalia is an ancient festival celebrating the Greek God, Bacchus the God of wine, revelry and merriment. The Bacchanalian Ball will feature music for dancing, a chocolate buffet and a live auction of wonderful crafts and services, hosted by Bacchus himself.
