BANGOR The interior renovation of the Bangor Public Library is about to endure a drastic change. As the original architectural plans dictate, a grand staircase is being installed in the octagonal building that connects the original library with the 1997 addition. Because of the size and intricate installation, the Library will be closing Nov. 16 and will not reopen until Jan. 4, 2016.

'The new staircase, which will be a focal point to draw the two buildings together, is a massive undertaking,' says Barbara McDade, Library director. 'For the safety of our patrons and a smooth installation, we will be closed for six weeks.'
