Live theater at the mall?

BANGOR – An area theater company has moved into a new – and unconventional space in the Bangor Mall.

Ten Bucks Theatre Company will debut its new space – located in the former PacSun store – this weekend with a production of “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged).” The production – a three-man romp through the Bard’s prolific output – is directed by Ben Layman and runs Jan. 25-27.

The performance on Saturday, Jan. 26 will be preceded with a gala celebration, with food, drink, a silent auction and a tour of the new space.

Seats set up at Bangor Mall for viewing & testing

BANGOR - The new Bangor Auditorium is one step closer to completion now that the seating inside the new Cross Insurance Center has been selected. Hussey Seating Company, a family-owned company in North Berwick, will be supplying and installing 8,000 of its seats inside the new arena next month. However, the public can test them out this month when they stop by the Bangor Mall. That's where a couple of the chairs are currently on display.

"I think it's important for people to get a firsthand view of what the new seats are going to look like," said Adam Pearson, director of sales operations at the Hussey Seating Company.

The need for speed

14-year old racer promotes safe driving

When thinking of the hobbies of a 14-year-old girl, stock car racer isn't the first thing that leaps to mind. But you're not Emma Libby, who came on the local stock car racing scene and recently completed her first full season at area tracks.

She's taking the name she's been making for herself and bringing it to the Bangor Mall this weekend to help promote safe driving on the roads. Libby's message to her peers is to keep the speed on the track and drive safely on Maine's roads.

Her mother Cindy is supportive of Libby's activity, though understandably concerned with her safety both on and off the track.
