BANGOR The American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront has released the second round of artists scheduled to appear at the three-day event in August. The latest announcement includes A Capella Gospel, Bluegrass Piano, Cajun, Quebecois, Maine Fiddle Music, Chicago Blues, and a New Orleans Parade Band.

BANGOR The American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront has released the names of the first several artists scheduled to appear at the three-day event in August. Announced cultures include Western Swing, Bluegrass, Portuguese, Salsa, Prince Edward Island, Sri Lanka dance, and Jazz. All seven performers being announced today will be first-time performers at the American Folk Festival.

BANGOR The second annual Color Bangor fun run/walk to benefit the American Folk Festival will feature an area designed specifically for the enjoyment of kids. The Children's Color Zone is an activity area for youth aged 4-12 years old, sponsored by Playland Adventures.

'Color Bangor is a unique color fun-run with games and activities you won't find at other similar events,' said Heather McCarthy, executive director for the American Folk Festival. 'With the addition of the Children's Color Zone, it adds to both the uniqueness of this event, as well as the fun, all while supporting the American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront.'

BANGOR The 2012 American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront is set to take place Aug. 24-26 with another diverse set of music, crafts, food and demonstrations.

"The first 10 years of this festival have exceeded the expectations of just about everyone," said American Folk Festival Executive Director Heather McCarthy. "We are looking forward to seeing what the next ten years will bring for performers, craftspeople, visitors and memories."

This year's performer lineup includes more than 16 groups, performing the traditional arts of their region, their culture and their heritage. Western swing, blues, bluegrass, Franco, Cajun, Irish, Scottish Pipe and Drum, Lakota Hoop Dance, Gospel, Doo Wop and Tamburitza are a few of the styles of music that will be present at the 2012 American Folk Festival.
