ImprovAcadia returns to Bangor

BANGOR – One of Maine’s most venerable improvisational institutions is back for another go-round in Bangor.

ImprovAcadia, the Bar Harbor-based improv theater that just wrapped up its 15th season, has returned to the Bangor area for a limited run. IA is continuing the partnership begun last year with Penobscot Theatre Company at PTC’s Dramatic Academy space, located at 51 Main St. in Bangor.

IA owner-operators Jen Shepard and Larrance Fingerhut began their six-week mini-season last weekend, with their “Harold Club” on Friday night. The show, named after a classic long-form improv structure, will feature groups of area improvisers of varying levels of experience. These groups will be divided into two teams; each team will take to the stage and present a set of long-form improv. These shows will take place on Friday evenings starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5.
