The Grand Audience Votes for Best Short Film

ELLSWORTH- Filmgoers in Ellsworth will unite with audiences in over 300 cities spanning six continents to vote on the work of filmmakers from around the world when the '18th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival' returns to the screen at The Grand on Friday, September 25th at 7 pm. Ticket prices are General Admission seating and are $10 for Adults, $9 for Seniors/Students and $8 for Grand Members.

Once again, following the slogan 'One World - One Week - One Festival,' the MSFF is bringing together over 100,000 people from such cities as Sydney, Mumbai, Buenos Aires, Cairo, and Ellsworth, Maine, to view and vote on the 10 short film finalists from an initial, record-breaking 678 entries received from 52 countries around the world!

These short films will not only entertain a global audience but will be judged by them as well as filmgoers are asked to vote for the one film they feel should win. In addition, viewers will be asked to vote for a Best Actor as well. Votes are tallied and submitted to festival HQ in New York City where the winner will be announced (and posted on the net at www.ManhattanShort.com) on Monday, October 5th at 10 am. This year's finalists for the 'United Nations of Film Festivals' include:

  • "Listen" (Harry Ramezan & Rungano Nyoni ) Finland
  • "Dad's in Mum" (Fabrice Bracq) France
  • 'Bear Story' (Gabriel Osorio) Chile
  • 'Forever Over' (Erik Schmitt) Germany
  • 'Shok" (Jamie Donahue) Kisivi/U.K.
  • 'Grounded' (Alexis Michalik) France
  • 'Sundown' (Sinem Cezayirli) Turkey
  • 'Patch' (Gerd Gockell) Switzerland
  • 'El Camino Solo' (Shawn Telford) USA
  • 'Bis Gleich' (Benjamin Wolff) Germany

The film program continues at The Grand with the last Autumn CineGrand selection on Tuesday, September 29th at 7:30 pm 'Results,' a film that redefines 'quirky romantic-comedy' in telling the story of a love triangle between Danny who is recently divorced, newly rich, and utterly miserable... his irresistibly acerbic personal trainer Kat at the local gym... and her boss, the self-styled guru/owner of the gym, Trevor.
