Call for knitters Call for knitters

HALLOWELL - During Hallowell's Annual Fall Festival weekend in October 2013, the Harlow Gallery will celebrate by having the entryway to the gallery decorated by some very avid knitters when Nina Tilander, the owner of Hook Yarn and Stitcher in Farmingdale, leads a group of knitters and volunteers in "yarn bombing" the Harlow with knitted fall leaves on Saturday, Oct. 12 between 8 and 10 a.m.

Yarn bombing is a non-permanent, colorful form of graffiti created using either knitting or crocheting. Central Maine knitters and fiber artists are invited to knit leaves and/or to participate in installing the yarn bombing (bring scissors, yarn scraps, darning needle and crochet hook). Knitters may deliver their leafy creations to Hook Yarn and Stitcher at 642 Maine Avenue in Farmingdale from now through Friday, Oct. 11 during open hours: Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For more information about knitting leaves or about participating in the yarn bombing, contact Nina Tilander, owner Hook Yarn and Stitcher, 642 Maine Avenue, Farmingdale, ME 04344, (207) 621-0344.
