March is by no means a month to get excited about. It's nowhere near 75 degrees, driveways are muddy and the trees still look like something out of a scary Halloween movie, but the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce is doing their best to change your mind.

March marks the beginning of 'Dine Around Month,' which means various restaurants in the Ellsworth area have amazing deals on different days of the week. 'March is generally a slow time of year,' said Gretchen A. Wilson, community manager of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce. 'A lot of cities all around the country do a Dine Around in March for the same reason. It's the end of winter and the beginning of spring, but no one is seeing it yet. Anything that gets people out and socializing after a long, hard, cold winter is worth its weight in gold,' Wilson said.

According to Wilson, Dine Around Month has been very successful in the past, and she is expecting this year to be no different. 'We started out with a small list of businesses, but I don't really think people got what we were trying to do. It's definitely grown since the beginning, and I think people are seeing quality in the numbers. More and more people are wanting to become a part of it.'

There are over 20 restaurants participating some of which include Pat's Pizza, which is offering a free small order of cheese breadsticks with any order for the entire month, and free dessert with the purchase of two entrees. Morton's Moo is introducing the Bow Chicka Wow Cow Signature Shake, a sundae and a shake all in one for only $5.50. Wednesday through Sunday, The Brooklin Inn wants you to join them for a three-course prix fixe dinner for only $25.

According to Wilson, some restaurants get very creative.  Finn's Irish Pub is going all out for their customers this month by adding grilled flat breads to their menu only for the month of March. Their mouthwatering $8 flat breads include The Reuben; Greek Flatbread; Nacho Flatbread; Grilled Chicken With Apple and Walnut; Shrimp, Capers, and Scallion; Pesto and Mozzarella; Potato and Green Olive with Egg; Artichoke, Tomato, and Red Onion.

'The best part about Dine Around Month, other than the great deals of course, is being able to shop, spend and eat locally. When you spend your hard earned money at local businesses, you're helping support local families,' Wilson stressed.

For a complete list of deals for the month of March, you can visit or visit them on Facebook to see daily deal updates.

With deals like this it would be a shame to ignore. Recruit a friend to help you try them all.  Happy dining!
