I highly recommend that you also treat yourself and your hair to a once-a-week, at-home deep conditioning treatment for extra moisture for your hair and your scalp. Ask your stylist to recommend something that you can take home for this treatment. Apply this to your hair and scalp and warm a damp towel in the microwave while you do. Wrap your hair with the damp and warm towel once you apply the conditioner. This not only will feel great, but the heat helps the conditioner penetrate deep inside the hair to repair the inside and the outside of each hair strand. Grab yourself a cup of tea and soak your feet for up to 30 minutes while this sits on your head. Don't think you have time or want to do this at home? Add a professional deep conditioning treatment to your next haircut and/or color appointment in the salon. Healthy and properly conditioned hair is going to look great, grow faster and hold hair color much more effectively.
Take time to properly care for your hair and your skin throughout the winter months and you'll be ahead of game when spring hits and you are eager for some highlights or other big change. The more you are exposed to the elements in the winter, the more care your skin and hair is going to need. The air is dry and there is no way to avoid it unless you are one of the lucky ones who head south for winter. The rest of us need to take care and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.
