If you spend a lot of time in the water this summer, make sure you are rinsing your hair after swimming and use a heavier more moisturizing conditioner and/or a leave-in conditioner to replenish lost moisture. Pay special attention to the kiddos swimming in the pool to avoid the 'green hair' that comes with it. I suggest putting conditioner in your hair before going in the water to protect if both from the sun and the water.
Lastly, don't forget that your scalp needs protection. If you have lighter colored hair, you are more prone to your scalp burning. The protection I mentioned in professional products that contain sunscreen will give you some protection, but I would suggest putting actual sunscreen on your scalp. Skin cancer is no joke; make sure you are protecting your skin and also making sure to have someone checking your scalp and your skin on a regular basis.
We get such little time up here in Maine with sun and warmer temperatures, let's make sure we get out there and enjoy it while we can. Just stop and protect your hair and your skin with the correct products and sunscreens so you stay looking and feeling your absolute best year round.
