Budget crunch

The leaves are falling, temperatures are dropping and we will turn our clocks back this weekend. No doubt, winter is coming. Most of us dread the winter and the increasing costs that come to us because of it with the holidays approaching and the need for fuel oil and heating costs. I find that everything seems to need to be done this time of year and there never seems to be enough money to go around. Many of us have to forgo some of the luxuries in our lives and many of you will cancel your hair appointment thinking that you just can't afford it. I am here to give you some alternative options so you don't have to forgo looking and feeling your best.

If you get color, foils and a cut every time, you may be able to get by with just one of those items if money is a little tight and it is always OK to be honest with your stylist and discuss some options if your budget is feeling tight. You would be surprised how just a few foils, placed in the right spots can blend away your re-growth and stretch out the time needed before your next full color and cut. The one thing I suggest that you do not do is to avoid getting your hair done all together or taking matters into your own hands (don't buy a box from the store). Save yourself the time, money and agony and just keep that appointment and talk with your hairdresser.

I know that the times in my life when money is tight also seem to be the times when I really want something new. I want to shop, buy new clothes, redecorate that house and more. If you find yourself here and really want a new hairstyle but just don't have a lot of money to invest in a new look, I have a great suggestion. Try some bangs! They are a super easy, affordable way to update your look. There are so many different options when it comes to bangs, that every single one of you can find one that works for you. Bangs are as trendy in the fall and winter as boots are, give it a try. Seeing your stylist for a bang trim is a cheaper option and usually starts at about $10. You can add a wash and style to that and feel brand new and pampered!

Don't let the cold months get you down. We all know that our hair does a lot for us and our mood and outlook on life. That is something that really is priceless and why I have a job. I love seeing how something as simple as a trim can put a smile on my clients' faces. I am so lucky to have a job where I get to do that every day. If money is tight for you, don't forego how you look and feel. Chat with your hairdresser about options to get you through and keep you feeling warm and cozy.
