Bear of a name draws criticism Bear of a name draws criticism

On Dec. 7 of this past year, Kate Winslet and husband, Ned Rocknroll, welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Bear Winslet, into the world.  Naturally, the majority of the population seemed to find some sort of issue.

This isn't anything new. In recent years, the general public has always found something to complain about when it comes to celebrity baby names. 'Bear' isn't even the most unique one. For example, Kim and Kanye named their baby girl North, making her name North West. Holly Madison named her daughter Rainbow Aurora. Chef Jamie Oliver and his wife, Jools, named their four children Poppy Honey Rosie, Daisy Boo Pamela, Petal Blossom Rainbow and Buddy Bear Maurice. Magician Penn Jillette named his son Zolten, and his daughter Moxie Crimefighter. Nicholas Cage named his son Kal-El after Superman's kryptonian name. Hell, Racheal Griffiths named her son Banjo in 2007.

When usmagazine.com released Bear's name, some people just couldn't seem to keep hurtful comments to themselves.

'I like her but why name your kid Bear???' one commenter wrote.

'Either way the name Bear is STUPID!' another chimed in.

Winslet voices her opinion of the haters pretty clearly in an interview with the UK's 'Glamour' magazine by letting people know they're just going to have to deal with her new baby's name. 'People might judge all they like, but I'm a [expletive] grown-up,' Winslet said.

The kicker? Bear isn't even an original name. In 2011, Alicia Silverstone named her son Bear Blu. The lead singer of Christian rock group Needtobreathe's name is Bear Rinehart. Bear Bryant is the name of the University of Alabama's football coach. And then there is Bear McCreary, who is an American composer most famously known for his work on 'The Walking Dead,' 'Battlestar Galactica' and 'Terminator' TV series. Why people are suddenly having a problem with one more child named 'Bear' is unknown to me.
