Indie-Doc, 'Betting to Farm', to Screen December 1st

Bangor, Maine. Bangor Greendrinks is proud to announce their first Media Sponsorship as an official State of Maine registered nonprofit. In partnership with River City Cinema, Bangor Greendrinks is excited to promote the screening of independent documentary film, 'Betting the Farm' as the theatres December film.

Betting the Farm, directed by Maine film makers Cecily Pingree and Jason Mann, centers around a group of Maine dairy farmers who take a chance on launching their own milk company in a bid to save their farms after bring dropped by their national milk company. The rational and motivation behind such a risky move is that a new company owned by the farmers and with a commitment to paying a sustainable price for their own milk, the company would serve to offer hope for the future of small farming and the generations of Mainers who still farm as a means of survival. The film follows three farmers and their families through the first two trying years of their company MOO Milk. This film is a real life look into the lives of Maine farmers and the perils of small scale agriculture today.

Betting the Farm has received the 2012 Audience Award from the Camden International Film festival this past fall, an office selection of the 2012 AFI/Discovery Channel SilverDocs Documentary Festival among others. Tickets for this screening are $8 and information, including ticket purchases, can be found online at This screening is being held at the Brewer Performing Arts Center. This screening features a one night only Meet & Greet with the filmmaker and the farmer(s) of MOO Milk.
