January event will be first-ever indoor show in Bangor

BANGOR Monster Jam, the truck series featuring monster-sized trucks and lots of horsepower, will hold its first-ever indoor event in Bangor at the Cross Insurance Center in January.

The series, part of Feld Motor Sports, features custom-designed 12-foot-tall trucks that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster trucks can fly up to125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.

The event, slated for Friday, Jan. 3 at 7:30 p.m., and two performances on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., will feature the first-time World Champion EL TORO LOCO and Hometown Hero CRUSHSTATION, driven by Greg Winchenbach. The Party in the Pits beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday gives fans the opportunity to get a view of the trucks up close and meet the drivers of the massive monster trucks.

Tickets start at $27 for adults and $12 for kids ages 2-12, and are available at ticketmaster.com, the Cross Insurance Center Box Office, or charge by phone at 800-745-3000. Tickets for the pit party are $10.
