BANGOR - The Hermon Meadows golf course will be the setting and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine will be the beneficiary of a new golf tournament to help local Penobscot County children facing adversity. The 'Golf Fore Kids' Sake' tournament will take place on Friday, Aug. 22 with a field of up to 25 teams vying for top prizes and local children the winners.

Alex Gaeth, CEO of BBBS of Mid-Maine, says this is the agency's first tournament in Penobscot County, after holding similar tournaments at the Belgrade Lakes Golf Club and at the Samoset Resort in Rockport to raise funds for the agency's work in Kennebec Valley and the Midcoast. 'We're excited to hold this event at Hermon Meadows and have already confirmed 18 of the 25 teams that will be participating, but we do have a few slots remaining for any interested foursomes.'

The cost for the tournament is $400 per foursome and includes team mulligans and course challenges (putting contest, chipping contest and hit the green contests). Numerous sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses who would like to promote their services and support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine's youth mentoring program.

Big Brothers Big Sisters changes the lives of over 530 children in Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Penobscot, Somerset and Waldo Counties facing adversity by providing strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships. By partnering with parents, volunteers and organizations, these children have higher aspirations, greater confidence, better relationships, avoid risky behaviors and achieve educational success.
