Kibbles and Picks Week 16

Kibbles and Picks Kibbles and Picks

The NFL season continues to slip away, and with it my chances to prove my football picking superiority. Another week, another tie Stella and I both went 9-7 in Week 15.

I looked good early; the 49ers and Bills did right by me, with only Stella's improbable selection of the Peterson-less Vikings marring things. And when the Cardinals pulled out their overtime win against the Titans, things were looking good for me to make a move and when the Cowboys leapt out to their massive first-half lead against the Packers, I dared to dream of a massive swing this week. I may have even said as much to Stella as the second half got underway.

As I've said before in this space, hubris is a hell of a thing.

As Green Bay made their unlikely comeback, I could feel Stella's stern puppy eyes upon me. The unspoken message was clear: never trust Tony Romo in December. I should have known.

Still, I had a chance to make up some ground with the Monday night game. Unfortunately, the Ravens rode the nigh-automatic leg of Justin Tucker to a two-point victory. The Lions loss put Stella and I into yet another tie, meaning that her lead remains an increasingly-insurmountable six games.

We differ on five games this week Dolphins/Bills; Vikings/Bengals; Browns/Jets; Cowboys/Redskins; and Steelers/Packers. She thinks the Bills can put a damper on the Dolphins' playoff push. I think the Bengals will top the Vikings even with the return of Adrian Peterson. She thinks the Jets can win at home over the Browns. I think the Redskins will handle the reeling Cowboys. She (somewhat inexplicably) thinks the Steelers are going to win on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.

Even in a best-case scenario, I can't make up all of the necessary ground this week. If I go five-for-five in these games, I cut her lead to one. But let's be honest does anyone really believe that's going to happen?
