Kibbles and Picks 2016 Week 3

All things considered, it could have been worse.

Things looked good for me going into the last few games last week where I promptly finished with three straight losses. I wound up going 8-8 overall; not bad for a week featuring so many surprises.

Just not quite as good as Stella.

It wasn't a great week by her lofty standards she went just 9-7 but it was good enough to add another game to her lead. After two weeks, she's four up on me.

We're at odds on seven of this weekend's matchups. I'm basically clinging to the possibility of pulling off a big week before Stella gets so far ahead that I have no chance to catch up, but as we've seen, my chances aren't great.

We'll start with Raiders/Titans. I'm still a believer in the Oakland offense there are a lot of weapons at QB Derek Carr's disposal. Stella is starting to think Tennessee might be a sneaky-good bad team this year; she likes Marcus Mariota, DeMarco Murray and the Titans at home. I've also got the Broncos winning on the road at Cincinnati; I think their defense can largely negate the big-play potential of the Bengals. Stella thinks it'll be low-scoring, but she likes the Cincy offense/Bronco D matchup a little better than the Denver attack against the Bengals defense.

Stella's got Washington going into the Meadowlands and taking down the Giants, though she has some doubts about Kirk Cousins. I'm betting on Eli Manning and the New York passing attack having a big day. In a bit of a surprising move, she's also taking the Rams to go into Tampa Bay and upset the Buccaneers; she's expecting a big breakout game from Todd Gurley. I hope she's right I have Gurley on my fantasy team but even with Doug Martin hurt, the Bucs should be able to outscore L.A.

Stella likes the Chiefs at home and expects some good passing performance against a reeling Jets secondary. She also thinks the Kansas City defense stacks up well against New York. I'm taking the Jets; I think they overcome their hobbled receiving corps and score just enough to win a defensive struggle. Stella's not a believer in San Diego just yet, but Philip Rivers and company showed her enough to convince her to pick the Chargers over Indianapolis. I'm going with the Colts; I just don't think San Diego's dinged-up skill position players can get it done against Andrew Luck and company.

And finally, in the Monday night game, I am once again taking the road team for the win. I like the way the Falcons have looked offensively thus far; QB Matt Ryan, wideout Julio Jones and the RB tandem of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman look awfully potent going up against a suspect Saints defense. Stella, while no big fan of New Orleans, doesn't think much of the Falcons D; she's calling for a big game from Drew Brees that allows the Saints to win in a game where she'd advise you to take the over.

And here we go let's see if I can gain back a little ground this weekor at least not lose very much.
