Meth bust in Washburn

WASHBURN - As the result of a joint investigation between the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Washburn Police Department, a methamphetamine manufacturing operation was dismantled late last week in Washburn. A husband and wife have been charged with aggravated drug trafficking offenses.

Tractor trailer accident in Hodgdon

HODGDON A truck hauling a loaded chip trailer overturned on US Highway 1 last week.

On July 27, 28-year-old Richard Brackett, of Patten, was driving a white 2000 International tractor trailer that was pulling a loaded chip trailer south on US Highway 1 (Calais Road) in Hodgdon. Troopers said he was driving too fast while attempting to negotiate a curve and the truck went onto the right shoulder which was soft due to recent road work. The trailer began to tip which caused the truck and trailer to roll onto to its right side, breaking a utility pole in half, and crashing into a large group of trees.
