Four arrested in Dedham drug bust

DEDHAM Maine State Police have arrested four persons in connection with the seizure of bath salts from a Dedham house early last week.

On April 14, Troopers went to the house on Allen Road after a loud noise complaint. The homeowner was currently out on bail for an unrelated charge and a search of the home yielded three-quarters of a pound of bath salts, a smaller amount of heroin and methamphetamine, over 70 needles, two rifles and nearly $800. The bath salts were valued at $68,000, according to police.

Police arrested Thomas White, 57, for trafficking in bath salts. Three others were also charged. Tami Hayes, 49, of Danforth and Bryon Shedd, 25, of Bangor were charged with possessing bath salts. Adam Hayes, 45, of Danforth was arrested on an active warrant for failure to appear in court for an unrelated drug charge. All four were transported to the Hancock County Jail.

Arrest made in Bar Harbor arson

BAR HARBOR The State Fire Marshal's Office has charged a Bar Harbor man with arson following a fire that damaged his apartment last week.

Authorities arrested Jimmy Deiters, 55, at a Bar Harbor motel where he was staying. Deiters was charged with arson and aggravated criminal mischief and was taken to the Hancock County Jail, where bail was set at $25,000. He likely will make his first court appearance in Ellsworth today.

The fire was confined to Deiters's first floor apartment at 113 Highbrook Road Wednesday about 1 p.m. Fire investigators say newspapers were set on fire in the living room of the apartment and Deiters was seen riding his bicycle away from the building shortly before the fire was discovered. The building's sprinkler system put the fire out before the fire department arrived on scene.

Police said that there are 24 other apartments in the building and most are occupied, but no one was injured.

Assisting fire marshals were the Bar Harbor fire and police departments. Arresting Deiters were Fire Marshal Investigators Jeremy Damren and Ken MacMaster, along with Sgt. Joel Davis.

Traffic stop leads to drug charges

AURORA A speed detail led to drug charges in Aurora on April 20.

On Monday, troopers from Troop J conducted a speed detail on Route 9 in Aurora that resulted in 38 stops and several arrests. One person arrested was Chad Robinson, 29, of Charlotte, was stopped for speeding an arrested on an active warrant for unpaid fines and was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver, Karyn Sawick, 24, of Robinson was arrested for class C possession of scheduled drugs for being in possession of heroin, according to police. She was also charged with class B aggravated forgery for being in possession of $240 of counterfeit currency.

Both were transported to Hancock County Jail.
