Bar Harbor's ImprovAcadia enters its 12th season

BAR HARBOR Improvisational comedy is one of the ultimate high-wire acts in the entertainment realm. Watching as a group of quick-thinking, quicker-witted actors strive to generate engaging performances on the fly can be both exhilarating and exhausting when improv is good, it can be very good, but when it's bad it's BAD.

What will be rocking the Waterfront this summer?

BANGOR The sun is finally shining, the ice is gone from the Penobscot, and as the water flows freely, so do the rocking tunes from the Darlings Waterfront Pavilion. All summer long, there will be tours from all over the world making a stop in Bangor. And the folks at Waterfront Concerts keep Maine rocking by scheduling shows at the Darlings Waterfront Pavilion, the Cross Insurance Center, The Collins Center for the Arts in Orono and the Maine State Pier and Merrill Auditorium in Portland.

Don't just live. Live for a purpose bigger than yourself. Be an asset to your family, community, and country.

Looking ahead to some summer movies

It seems a bit counterintuitive to be writing a summer movie preview before we've even arrived in the month of May. However, the nature of blockbuster season has changed significantly over the past few years changed to the point that 'summer' movies start hitting the screens before we've even reached the official first day of spring.

BANGOR It's a good time to be a geek. What used to be a fringe passion has become mainstream as comic book heroes take the to the big screen with 'The Avengers' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' and 'Game of Thrones' and 'The Walking Dead' enjoy incredible popularity with their incarnation on the small screen. It isn't cult classics, but gritty shows that highlight what many geeks have loved about the genre from the very beginning. And it only seems to be getting better and better.

We're getting a dose of that in Bangor for the Bangor Comic and Toy Convention on April 24, 25 and 26. It has all manner of fun things for all manner of pop-culture enthusiasts artists, celebrities, cosplay, gaming and more. Whether you're looking to add to your action figure collection, want to get autographs from Billy Dee Williams or Ernie Hudson or simply want a chance to meet the Power Rangers, this is it.
