What will be rocking the Waterfront this summer?

BANGOR The sun is finally shining, the ice is gone from the Penobscot, and as the water flows freely, so do the rocking tunes from the Darlings Waterfront Pavilion. All summer long, there will be tours from all over the world making a stop in Bangor. And the folks at Waterfront Concerts keep Maine rocking by scheduling shows at the Darlings Waterfront Pavilion, the Cross Insurance Center, The Collins Center for the Arts in Orono and the Maine State Pier and Merrill Auditorium in Portland.

Alex Gray of Waterfront Concerts is excited about this year's lineup and enjoys the venue in Bangor.

'It's an impressive piece of property right in downtown. Put that together with the best fans in the land and you have an awesome 1-2 punch,' he said in response to emailed questions. 'Here's to a great 2015 and beyond.'

They have already kicked off the season with the Rise Above Fest on May 9. Gray is also looking forward to some of the big names already announced, though he is understandably mum on any future surprises or headliners still in the works.

'[I] can't wait for Lady A, Hunter and Kelsea Balerini. Both Lady and Hunter are huge acts on one bill. Also excited for Joe Bonamassa. He is one of the best, if not the best blues guitarists in the world right now,' he said. 'We are also looking forward to having Kenny Chesney back in Bangor. His 2013 show was fantastic and we expect the same in 2015.'

When he was asked who was on his bucket list for future performers Gray said, 'Elton, Billy Joel, Jimmy Buffett, Metallica, Foo Fighters, too many to name. '

Here's the rundown of what you can see on the glittering banks of the Penobscot in 2015 (as well as a smattering of Bangor Area events as well).
