BANGOR - Upon its opening in September, Maine potatoes will be the official potato of the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. An agreement signed last week between the Maine Potato Board and the Cross Insurance Center defines the relationship between the Cross Insurance Center and Maine's potato industry.

'We're very pleased to have this opportunity to partner with Global Spectrum, operators of the facility, and Ovations, the providers of food & beverage for the Cross Insurance Center to further promote the Maine potato and to make it available to those enjoying various events at this new Bangor venue,' said Don Flannery, executive director of the Maine Potato Board. 'Maine people know the quality of our potatoes and the long heritage that the industry has in Maine. This is one more very public way to focus on our industry. We are looking forward to the opportunity to showcase the many and varied products that are produced by the Maine potato industry.'

Maine potatoes will be the official potatoes utilized in the Cross Insurance Center's various concessions and catered events. A feature of the food service at the facility will be a baked potato bar, offering baked Maine potatoes and a variety of toppings, always a very popular food choice.

'We're excited to be partnering with this new facility, which will attract people not only from the Bangor region but also from New England, Atlantic Canada, and beyond. The Maine Potato Board looks forward to this partnership and the further promotion of the Maine potato,' added Flannery.

Global Spectrum's Mike Dyer, general manager of the Cross Insurance Center, indicated that the facility is pleased to be working with a key Maine industry.

'We realize the importance of the agricultural community in Maine, and in particular our state's leading agricultural industry, the Maine potato industry. We look forward to our partnership with the Maine Potato Board and hope that it may serve as a model for other partnerships as we commence this relationship with Maine potato growers,' Dyer said.
