BANGOR A photography exhibit titled 'A Journey in Black and White,' by Belfast resident Betsy Headley, will be on display for the month of July, 2013 in the Stairwell Gallery of Bangor Public Library, 145 Harlow Street, Bangor. The public is invited to an opening reception on Tuesday, July 2, from 5-7 pm, light refreshments served.

Headley explores elements of design, contrast, edge, and movement in her photography. Presented from a unique perspective, her subjects range from street dancers and rocky coastlines to still-life compositions. Nature and wildlife images are included in this show composed with a black, white, and shaded color palette.

Her years living and teaching English in China and Japan 03-09 influenced her artistic vision. Subtle aspects of the world provide intriguing catalysts for her work.

She has participated in several juried art shows in mid-coast Maine, and received awards for her photography and mixed media work. Headley is currently represented by Flying Mountain Artisans in Southwest Harbor, Maine. She will present a one-person show at the Belfast Co-op in Belfast Maine in September of this year.

In addition to creating photography, mixed media, and paintings, Headley is a published poet. She has combined her poetry with art in several exhibitions and publications.
