Brewer woman arrested for hit & run fatality

BANGOR - 51-year-old Patricia Giles of Brewer was arrested last week for her alleged involvement in a hit and run accident outside of the Zac Brown Band concert on the Bangor Waterfront on June 2.

The accident happened on Main Street and claimed the life of 37-year-old Joshua Constantine of Bangor. Giles, who is currently out on bail, is charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident resulting in death and falsifying evidence. She is scheduled to appear in court on September 12.

Bangor woman charged with falsifying police report

BANGOR - A 44-year-old Bangor resident who told police that someone withdrew money using her credit cards without her permission is now facing charges herself.

Carol Jones told authorities she lost a bundle of credit cards between her home and downtown Bangor on May 1. Then on May 4, Bangor police released photos to the media of a man who successfully withdrew money at the Court Street Market and an ATM in Bangor using the alleged stolen cards. That man came forward and was interviewed by police last week. Authorities determined he was temporarily living with Jones at the time, who had asked him personally to use the cards to withdraw cash for her that day, as he had done several times in the past. Police say Jones then waited a few days before reporting to them that she lost her credit cards. As a result, Jones is now charged with creating a false public alarm or report.

Two men charged after horsing around at bus stop

ORONO - Two men looking to catch a ride on the bus in Orono found themselves passengers inside a different mode of transportation Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to the University Mall around 4:30 p.m. on June 16, where they were told two men were hitting each other. When officers arrived, 21-year-old Caleb McLellan of Bangor, who was drinking from a bottle covered by a bag, told authorities he and 25-year-old Justan Adams, also of Bangor, were just 'fooling around' waiting for the bus. Police ran McLellan's name through their database and found he had been arrested on June 1 for unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, and possession of alcohol would be a violation of his bail conditions. Once police confirmed McLellan's concealed beverage was a 40 ounce beer, he was arrested for violation of release while Adams was given a trespass warning not to return to the University Mall. But approximately 30 minutes later, Adams was back, this time hanging around in front of the cinemas. Police returned to the area, arrested Adams, and charged him with criminal trespass.

Skateboarder injured after running into an 18-wheeler

BANGOR - An 11-year-old boy was injured last Thursday while skateboarding with a friend on the Finson Road.

Police say it was around 11:30 a.m. when the boy, who was wearing headphones at the time, was skateboarding in and out of the road as an 18 wheeler driven by Ronald Strout of Bangor attempted to pass the kids. Authorities say the boy steered into the side of the truck and struck his head on the ground. He was transported to the ER with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. No charges were filed.
