A lot of my brides are ladies who don't normally wear much makeup, if any at all. The fear is always that they don't want to look too different or too "made up.' I agree that if you don't normally wear much makeup, you shouldn't try to do that on your wedding day. But you do need makeup. Your color palette just needs to be light and natural, and it still should include concealer, foundation, powder, eye shadow, mascara and lip color. All of this doesn't even have to "look" like you are wearing makeup, but you will look refreshed and natural and amazing in your photos!
I have other brides who love makeup and they want to go crazy, trendy and try something totally new. I do not suggest this for your wedding day - today is not is not the time to get trendy. If you like makeup, you can go heavier and have fun, but keep it on a classic color palette. If you want to do smokey eye, then keep the lips neutral. If you prefer a darker or classic red lip, then keep the eyes lighter and use only neutral tones. Remember that these are photos you are going to be looking at for the rest of your life. Make sure that 25 years from now you aren't saying, "What was I thinking?"
Be open to trying different options when you meet with the professional makeup artist that you have chosen. Let them try some things it's just makeup, not a tattoo. If you don't like it, then you wash it off and try again. Just be honest with the person doing your makeup; they don't get offended. They want you to be happy when you leave. I suggest even trying a few different options. Whatever you do, keep it simple. Bring a camera with you and snap pictures so you can see the difference. Please take my advice so that when you look back at your wedding photos you will say, "Gina was so right!' and 'I look amazing!'
