BANGOR - Geaghan's Restaurant & Pub has a lot to be cheerful about this holiday. The Bangor-based business is expanding. The family-owned company located on Main Street will soon be brewing beer across the bridge in Brewer. And the company's locally made brews are so popular, the family has teamed up with Maine Distributors to create their very own distribution truck to transport their product to restaurants and stores throughout Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, Waldo and Washington counties.

"The Bangor location is still going to be the heart and soul of the operation and will be where new beers and specialty brews will be tested," said Andy Geaghan, owner at Geaghan's Pub and Craft Brewery. "The most popular and biggest selling beers will be the ones we brew in larger volume in Brewer for distribution."

Although tanks have been delivered, the Brewer location is still a few months away from operation.

"We pour our heart and soul into each of our recipes," said Geaghan. "The beer making was always to accentuate what we did with our food offerings. That was always number one, but as the beer started to gain momentum and become more and more popular we had to expand to keep up. We definitely think we'll be up and running by the first quarter over there."

The 28-foot-long truck, featuring an image of owners Larry, Peter, Pat and Andy Geaghan holding some of their favorite beers, is the first locally distributed craft beer truck in the region. The rig will carry both kegs and 12-ounce bottles of Geaghan's popular brews.

"Being that this is the third anniversary of our brewing operation, it just all kind of came together nicely," said Geaghan. "The opportunity was right, the market was right and we developed a great relationship with Maine Distributors, so everything came together at the right time."
