Eastport Pirate Festival Eastport Pirate Festival

EASTPORT Ahoy! It's the Eighth Annual Eastport Pirate Festival, Sept. 6 through 8, 2013; events start at noon on Friday, and continue through to late Sunday afternoon.

Pirate Fest is happy to announce several exciting changes and additions to the festival.

Be wary o' your eye patch and keep an eye out for Rockin' Ron, the friendly pirate who will be in Eastport for all three days of the festival.  Rockin' Ron is a sure winner with the children; singing to his own guitar accompaniment, with songwriting as his passion and the subject of Pirates offering endless inspiration, these shows are sure to be found both entertaining and educational. This friendly pirate is a strong community volunteer and a role model like no other.

This year the festival will host a special remembrance ceremony on Sunday to honor the HMS Bounty, which was lost last October, along with its captain and another crew member, during Hurricane Sandy. The HMS Bounty was a wonderful sight to see last year during the Pirate festival in Eastport, their last public stop that also happened to be their very first pirate festival. We were honored to be a part of their 2012 tour. Be sure to join the crowd to pay tribute with the ceremony, music, a dedicated reading from a crew member and presence from the United States Coast Guard.

The well-known Pirates of the Dark Rose will be invading again this year, and this time they are sailing in on their own ship Must Roos. This lends opportunity for a pirate ship battle like no other! The Redcoats will invade Eastport, a sight not to be missed! Although there will be no lobster boat race or antique car show, the Sunday of the festival is sure to tantalize you all with many activities like the Pirate Pet Show, Boat Parade, the New Invasion of the Red Coats, Stage East Pirate Play on the street and the Crate races, which have been relocated to the New Waco Pier, a great place for all to enjoy.

It's an exhilarating good time, so don't miss The Eastport Pirate Festival - where the pirate life is the way life should be.
