What is the first thing people see? Your beautiful face of course! Are you taking care of it? Thought about what will happen when you don't? Wrinkles or worse - sun damage! I don't know about you, but I am all set with that. Put your best face forward and take care of your skin!

I bet most of you don't think twice when you see the perfect pair of shoes or handbag. You have to have it, and you'll pay top dollar. It's time to have that attitude about your skin. Start taking preserving your best asset and your personal billboard to the world. Invest in a good quality skin care regime and use sunscreen every day. Those shoes and bag are going to be outdated in a few months - don't let your face be.

I wish I had gotten this advice years ago. I never would have gotten in a tanning bed and would have been using sunscreen instead of baby oil (worse, I actually used Crisco once). If you are one of those sun-worshipers, get yourself a cute sun hat and some sunscreen. You will be so thankful years from now. There are so many quality self-tanning products out there that won't do years of damage or leave you looking like an oompa-loompa. Some that I love are Fake Bake brand self-tanners which come in a variety of application methods (contact your hairdresser to get these, as Fake Bake is professional, but not expensive). I also enjoy going to get a professional spray-tan when I can. I personally think having someone spray you is better than going in a booth and will give you a more controlled, even tan. Either way you are better off this way than baking yourself in the sun and getting wrinkles - and possibly even worse.

If you don't have a skin routine, now is the time to start one. Once you start this, you will want to wash your face often because of the way it feels. There are so many skin care lines out there, it may be hard to choose one. I don't believe you have to spend a ton of money and I think the best things for your skin are probably in your kitchen. Coconut oil is the only moisturizer I use. This stuff is amazing and can be used for so much; just go Google it for yourself to see. A consistent skin care routine is important not only because I know it is preserving what youth I still have, but because my skin just feels better. Take the time morning and night to cleanse your face and follow up with sunscreen for day and moisturize again at night. Use a washcloth when you wash your face so that you are also exfoliating. A couple times per week I add a little baking soda to my coconut oil to make a scrub for my face. It feels great and because I am using the oil it isn't left dry afterwards. Taking time to care for yourself has a domino effect in all aspects of your life, I promise. Lock the door to the bathroom after the kids are in bed and take five for you.

I don't believe you have to break the bank for a quality product - I've tried a lot of them. I do, however believe in taking care of yourself and preventing skin cancer. I know that there are so many products on the market it can seem overwhelming. If you have one that you love, stick with it. If you don't, start simple. There doesn't need to be a ton of steps and honestly, who has time for that? This process is fast and simple. I think it is important for you to find a product or system that you love, no matter what it is or where you get it. It's about you, your face and your health so treat it right.
