With the new “Jurassic World” movie hitting screens worldwide, it was only fitting that a game based on the beloved movie franchise would pop up on my radar. Only it wasn't the type of game I was expecting.

About two years ago, an augmented reality game broke the world - a little game called “Pokemon Go.” You remember - it had people venturing out into the craziest places or their own backyards to catch “real” Pokemon. Well, in a similar vein, we have a game called “Jurassic World Alive” - a game following in the adorably augmented footsteps of “Pokemon Go.”

“Jurassic World Alive” has the premise that dinosaurs have successfully fled Jurassic World on Isla Nublar … and they are now roaming our cities and neighborhoods. You are part of the DPG (Dinosaur Protection Group) and you have to save the dinosaurs from another extinction. Using your phone's GPS and camera, you must track these dinosaurs down and collect their DNA. Collecting their DNA lets you “level up” and grow babies from their DNA; you can also create new hybrid dinosaurs in a lab.

Basically, you can be like the bad guys in the movie and create all the little terrifying Indominus Rex babies that you want. You can even take these hybrids you create and actually battle other people in a PvP arena, because who doesn't want to grow dinosaurs and make them fight each other?

“Jurassic World Alive” is gimmicky, but it is also a fun break from “Pokemon Go” if you are looking for one. You can download “Jurassic World Alive” on the Android and IOS stores for free!
