HERMON The State Fire Marshal's Office says one child has been killed and another seriously injured in a mobile home fire in Hermon. A third child was able to escape the burning home and flagged down motorists to help.

The fire was at a residence on the Wing Road in Hermon and was reported about 7:15 am. On July 7. The mobile home was occupied by two adults, who had left the children alone after they got up to do some errands.

Dead is 9-year-old child from Levant, the nephew of one of the residents, who had spent the night with his two cousins. He was found deceased in the living room. In critical condition at EMMC is a 10-year-old, who was rescued from her bedroom by firefighters. The surviving child is an 8-yearold.

The two parents returned to the mobile home as firefighters were arriving. A team of five Fire Marshal investigators are now trying to pinpoint the cause. They believe the fire started in the kitchen.
