BANGOR Rascal Flatts generated a weeklong buzz when their tour trailers showed up early at Bangor's Waterfront Pavilion. By the evening of their July 6 performance, fans were ready to show their steadfast appreciation for this brand of country music.

Eden's Edge began the night with the trio's sweet harmonies spiced with twang and mandolin. But don't be fooled this band showed some lyrical attitude with their hit single 'Too Good to Be True' and opener 'Who Am I Drinking Tonight.'

Hailing from Texas, Eli Young Band's country is more rock than cowboy hat. The crowd embraced their hits 'Crazy Girl' and 'Even if it Breaks Your Heart.' Through less flash and more melody, this band is getting traction in the industry.

The crowd was in full swing for Little Big Town's performance. Fan favorites such as 'Little White Church' and 'Pontoon' had people on their feet. LBT asserts they can make any song country, and to prove their prowess they shared a great fiddle-heavy version of Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way.'

Finally, the night was about Rascal Flatts and their string of hits. Band members engaged the crowd with warm, Southern hospitality on a well-designed stage featuring video screens and talented tour musicians. Due to the overwhelming number of hits in the Rascal Flatts repertoire, they took a few requests from the audience. In a special moment, Gary LeVox kneeled on the side of the stage and shared vocals to the inspirational 'My Wish' with a young fan, a previous Make-A-Wish participant. As the saying goes, there wasn't a dry eye in the place.

In a finale, all the performers were back on stage to close down the night with a cover of Grand Funk Railroad's 'American Band.'
